The 2017 Ford C-Max runs on a hybrid powertrain that includes a 2.0 L I-4 engine. Following the conventional Atkinson Cycle, this four-cylinder engine yields up to 188 horsepower. The hybrid models are equipped with lithium-ion batteries that are rated at 1.4 kWh. The Energi editions have lithium-ion batteries that generate up to 7.6 kWh. A regenerative braking system is also integrated into the powertrain in order to improve efficiency in conditions that require frequent stops. Controlling this compact Ford is simple with the Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) that's linked to front-wheel drive. Additionally, the AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control kicks in if the wheels begin to slip, skid or slide.
